Are there any reasons it would be unsafe to take a prescription sleeping pill on a plane? I have one I take at home without problems.

Stewardess risk of being in a plane crash?

piątek, listopad 13th, 2009

plane crash
boomvoom2000 asked:

I know that the risk of being in a plane crash is much lower than the risk of being in a car crash. I was just curious if the risk for a steward or stewardess being in a plane crash was still lower (than being in a car crash).
If nobody knows how to answer, does anybody know where I could find out such a statistic?

How can I increase my chances of surviving a plane crash?

środa, październik 28th, 2009

plane crash
LuckyLady asked:

The news of recent plane crashes (Air France Airbus 330 and US Airways 1549 ) have me thinking, What should I do If I’m on a flight that crashes?

I pay attention to the in flight demonstration of course, but is there anything else I can do to increase my chances of survival?

Is there such a boat that goes from China to US? Why not bring paragliders on the planes?

eric asked:

There is another air crash in US. Is riding a plane safe? Is there a way to go from China to US other than by air? Why not bring paragliders on the planes? In case of emergency, you can jump out. Is there such a boat that goes from China to US?
Is there a boat from Beijing to California? Thanks!

Is it better to crash into water or land for a plane crash?

środa, luty 25th, 2009

plane crash
Guido asked:

I always thought water was certain death as water becomes very hard upon impact, but the recent crash in New York where the plane survived in one piece made me wonder if water landings are safer. I was also told pilots don’t train for water landings because there isn’t much chance to survive. Kinda a pointless question I know, but I’m just curious.

Would you still fly on planes if one 747 sized plane crashed and 200 people died EVERY DAY?

środa, luty 11th, 2009

fly plane
Holtane Canbass asked:

A commercial jet crashes about once every fortnight now, sometimes more often. Commercial air traffic is growing rapidly. Soon one will crash every day. Would you still fly on jetliners if one 747 sized plane crashed and was reported on the news headlines everyday killing ~200 people? This would still mean a low fatality ratio.
